Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) might be the key to

Programs:
The JJ/WBGSP is dedicated to
supporting citizens of select developing countries who have a proven track
record of contributing to their nation's development. The program targets
individuals applying for master's degree programs in various
development-related topics. With available funding, the JJ/WBGSP offers
scholarships for 52 Participating Master’s Programs across 27 universities
worldwide, covering key areas such as economic policy management, tax policy,
and infrastructure management.
Application Process:
It's crucial to note that eligibility
for the JJ/WBGSP scholarship is contingent upon admission to one of the 52
Participating Master’s Programs. The application form is exclusively accessible
to candidates shortlisted by participating universities. Aspiring candidates
are encouraged to contact the relevant university offering the JJ/WBGSP
participating master program to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements.
To accommodate the academic calendar
of the participating programs, the application process is organized in two
rounds:
Application Window #1: January 15 to
February 29, 2024

applicants by end of March 2024
Application Window #2: March 25 to
May 24, 2024

Application Procedure:
After completing their degrees,
scholars commit to returning to their home countries to apply their new skills
towards social and economic development.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
The eligibility criteria are outlined
in detail in the Application Guidelines for each call. Broadly, eligible
candidates must be nationals of World Bank member developing countries, not
hold dual citizenship of any developed country, and have at least three years
of paid development-related employment. Other criteria include good health, a
bachelor’s degree earned at least three years prior to the application
deadline, and unconditional admission to a participating master’s program.
Selection Process:
The selection process focuses on
assessing candidates' potential impact on their countries' development.
Professional experience, recommendations, commitment to their home country, and
educational background are the main criteria. The JJ/WBGSP Secretariat uses a
meticulous process to maintain diversity, considering geographical
distribution, gender balance, and financial need.
Benefits of the JJ/WBGSP Scholarship:
A JJ/WBGSP scholarship offers a
comprehensive package, covering tuition, a monthly living stipend, round-trip
airfare, health insurance, and a travel allowance. The scholarship duration
aligns with the graduate program or up to two years, whichever is less.
What the Scholarship Does Not Cover:
While the JJ/WBGSP provides
substantial support, certain expenses are not covered, including visa
application costs, family support, extra-curricular courses, and
research-related expenses.
